Hello dearies! We invite you to join the journey of a 100lb pumpkin as it’s transformed into a jack-o’-lantern! This pumpkin had a special adventure as Jonas had it take on the life of a mad scientist and got to GLOW in the monster section of the Rise of the Jack O’Lanterns Halloween event in NYC!
Come with us and see more than 5,000 hand-carved & illustrated illuminated jack o’ lanterns light up the night in October at the most unique and iconic family friendly fall event: RISE of the Jack O’ Lanterns! The pumpkins are arranged in creative ways along a 1/3-mile scenic walking trail all set to an original music score produced exclusively for The RISE!
Jonas is one of the artists that has been a part an amazing talented team that brought this event to life and this is his 4th year as a pumpkin carver. In previous years he’s had the opportunity to paint some of his original spooky fairy tale designs inspired by his own art work.
This year it was something different that inspired him. When the creative directors asked for a female mad scientist Jonas turned to inspiration from his wife, (me, Lindsay!) It was actually a silly outtake photo we took in front of the cottage that turned out to be the face of this jack-o’-lantern! It was my “don’t mess with my porch pumpkins” face that became one that people were even taking photos of at the event. It was a special experience this year to see it all come to life from photo, to sketch, to carving, to glowing in NYC!
We wish this jack-o’-lantern could stay around forever but alas, it only lasts about 1 week on display. I guess that’s what makes THE RISE all the more magical and a charming one of a kind experience!
