Dear Friends, If you love tea and cake as much as we do, then we truly hope you’ll enjoy this vintage spiced cake recipe that combines both.
This recipe was originally picked up at an old fruit farm in California. We would always go visit as a family in the fall. It soon became a New Year’s tradition to make this cake while watching the Rose Bowl parade and now when living in a cozy cottage in the Sleepy Hollow country, we started to make it in January. Isn’t that fun when recipes get passed on with their own traditions?
A tea cake to remember!
The original recipe is made with chamomile tea, but I must confess that we have experimented a bit and used a more nutty tea that we had handy and we hope to try even more flavors, because, so far it always pairs so well with the spiced pears.
Enjoy!
-Lindsay Dianne
