This Harvest Fruit Pie is an obvious choice if you want an easy yet one of the best Autumn experiences in the kitchen. Also, it saves both time and butter.
The genius part about this pie is that besides being so effortless, it allows you to bring it with you throughout the whole year. The basic crumble stays the same, but the filling is easily adaptable for what is in season. Our absolute favorite for fall is the combination of plums, pears, and apples.
Traditional pie vs. Crumble pie?
All pies are amazing but this crumble pie is super easy to make and is less wasteful than traditional pies in many ways.
Many traditional pie recipes ask for a store-bought premade pie crust. But, what is the fun in that? The best feeling is when you take the first bite, knowing YOU baked the WHOLE PIE yourself and you know what ingredients you put in it.
There is nothing wrong with buying a pre-made pie crust, it saves you the time you would spend making them from scratch, yet, the store-bought crusts still require more time in the oven than a crumble pie does. It most likely also contains a lot of preservatives that you don’t want to put in your body.
This “Harvest Fruit Pie” is a winner for Fika, since you need less time and butter to make it. The result will still be the most intense autumn serenade in your mouth, even without ice cream.
This easy pie recipe makes us feel at home wherever we go.
A signature feeling of the true cottagecore lifestyle.
This is a recipe that we started to make in Sweden and it has been following us wherever we have lived. It brings us a comforting and homeward feeling even far away from home. It is for us a signature feeling of the whole cottage life.
Harvest Fruit Pie
You’ll need:
- 2-3 Cups of Ripe Fruit (or Berries)
- 1 Cup Flour
- 1 Cup Oats
- 2 Tbsp Sugar
- 3/4 Cup Brown Sugar
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Cinnamon
- 1/2 Cup Butter
Preheat the oven to 350 degrees (F).
In a bowl, mix the fruit with 2 Tbsp sugar, set aside.
In another bowl, mix the dry ingredients with the butter
until a crumbly mixture takes form.
Grease an 8-9 inch pan and spread half of the oat mix on the bottom.
Add the Fruit mix as a middle layer, and cover it with the rest of the oat mix.
Bake for about 30 minutes, or until that fresh-baked fragrance reaches your nose. We hope you get the same wonderful experience as we always do.

I really appreciate your simpler lifestyle and you encourage and inspire me to create something similar in my own life, in my own home. I too live in a “cottage”. It is over 100 years old and is called a “cottage-style” home. I never appreciated a simpler live-style until I entered my later years. I love your videos!
