Slow living does not mean to do things more slowly but rather doing them mindfully and fill each day with intention. Here are 5 ways that have helped us living in the moment and see those details that a fast-paced lifestyle easily misses. The list works perfectly with the cottagecore lifestyle.
The list came together when we one day heard birds singing more lively than usual outside the cottage. We took it as an invitation to go out enjoying spring’s first birdwatching trip in the local woodlands. We must say that we are not professional “birders” and could most likely use some experienced tips, however, to seize the moment feels like a good start.
When we returned to the cottage later that day we felt renewed in so many ways and look forward to the next bird trip. Feel free to watch our video if you want to see what birds we saw.

5 Ways To Enjoy Your Time | Cottagecore style.
1. Focus on one thing at a time
Since we are living in a multitasking culture it’s easy to lose your focus on important things. A simple thing as looking at the time on your phone can easily take you in a time-consuming spiral of looking at all your notifications also. This is one of the reasons why we like to go back to the old-fashioned tradition of wearing watches because there’s less distraction when you look at a clock face than a phone screen. 2. Phone Free days
We’ve started to designate time off of social media and our phones. In general, we do it one day a week. The more we did this the more we found ourselves noticing new details in the world around us and looking forward to the next screen-free day.
3. Spending time in nature
Nature has been our greatest guide to mindfulness. The animals don’t live by the clock but by the sun and the seasons. The flowers aren’t aware of the time change only that they never waste a moment of enjoying the sunshine.
4. Enjoy Quiet Stillness
We enjoy spending time in stillness to let the mind breathe a little and give room to let ideas come to us, not by force. It helps us feel grounded whether getting up early or taking time in the evening for quiet contemplation.
5. Daily Rituals
We can’t control everything in a day but we can set up daily rituals such as our 4 o’clock fika-time when we spend time together over a cup of coffee or tea. For us, it feels like time stands still in those moments and it’s become a comforting promise that always returns on a daily basis.

You both look so stylish! I wholeheartedly agree with all of your wonderful tips. Every day I take Gracie the dachshund out for a walk. I devote the 20 minutes to just breathing. Being in the moment and reflecting on the beauty around me. It is amazing how nature can change in just a short amount of time. We both return home refreshed. I can’t wait to watch the video!

Dear Laura, thank you so much for stopping by the blog. That sounds like such a nice mindful way to walk your dog and take in the every changing nature!
Immensely lovely images of you both. They have a certain bucolic British feel to them that I can never get enough of in any sort of aesthetic sense.
Thank you for these lovely, much-appreciated tips. I’m a huge proponent of SM/internet-free days myself, usually taking 1 – 3+ per week either by choice or circumstance.
Wishing you two a sunny, safe, splendidly charming start of spring!

Dear Autumn, I’m SO thrilled you pointed out the British countryside sense, because we were absolutely influenced by that (after binge watching Downton Abbey this winter!) I’ve always admired your mindful use of social media, I’d love to more to more days a week off a screen, thanks for your inspiration! Lots of sunny bird song wishes to you too! -Lindsay Dianne
