Vintage Valentines Day - Activity Guide + Gift Ideas - It's a Charming Life

For this Valentine’s Day, we’ve put together a guide with 5 activities for you and your sweetheart, + some very charming Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas that go hand in hand with a loving vintage day to remember.

Whatever preferences and expectations you have for Valentine’s Day, remember that love can be celebrated in so many ways with our special ones. “A Valentine” can be a friend, family, partner, or even a pet. V-Day is just one day of the year to remember to show those dear to your heart how much you care.

Remember, the best gifts you can give are from the heart and do not have to be brand new, but can be crafted by yourself or thrifted from a second-hand shop. Perhaps the best gift that is free, is giving the gift of your time by turning off your phones to fully experience special moments with your loved ones.

Loving Letters

A letter can sometimes say more than you can. Writing a letter to your special someone is the origin of the Valentine’s Day custom as we know it today.

To add a touch of nostalgic charm use something like these Sentimental Floral Stationaries or Vintage Cards.

You can also take it a romantic step further by writing your own poem, or just share from this Poetry Book with words from the hopeless romantics of the past.

Begin the day with a cozy breakfast in bed. Matching Robes or Silk Pajamas will make the morning all the cozier.

Light a Lovely Candle while putting together a Breakfast Tray with fresh flowers served with Heart-Shaped Waffles. A Rose Petal Tea would certainly enhance the taste.

An afternoon out can make for a memorable excursion. Visit a museum, art gallery, or bookstore then pop into a tea room or cozy cafe for something sweet.

If choosing to stay at home, doesn’t Rose Hot Chocolate in a Rose Tea Cup sound charming?

In fair weather, pack a Picnic Basket with snacks, and don’t forget the Chocolate Box. Take a stroll arm in arm, to a pretty spot in a park.

A Besame Perfume transports to another era of timeless love.

After dinner, try an activity like dancing to bring you close together and also show a playful side as music usually does. If you have two left feet, just go with it. Tonight is your night.

I love William Powell films. The Thin Man Series is really good and he and Myrna Loy are such a funny real representation of a married couple.

I loved City Lights! I have a subscription to Hoopla through my public library, and I was exploring some of their Korean films. I watched one called “Always” starring Han Hyo-Joo. I was maybe half-way through it when I realized it was a modern updated version of “City Lights”! I recommend it to anyone who enjoyed the original “City Lights.”

We also have Hoopla, it is such a great thing we’ve come to realize. It’s nice when you can find films you wouldn’t normally be able to stumble upon.
Need to check out “Always”. Thanks for sharing it with us!
