If you want a cozy fall holiday, this Mudcake Pie is what adds the extra heartwarming atmosphere when the coffee is being served.
As the holidays approach, the pressure of making everything so special can ruin the fun of it. With this pie, you will get something extra, yet save a lot of time and trouble. This one is so easy, yet so much artisian quality with every bite. Because holidays should be relaxing, so let go of the stress and make it simple without compromising the quality of this Swedish-originated “fika” classic.
This mudcake pie has the same color as the cozy fall in November with this homemade buttery crust.
Compared to other fall favorites, such as pumpkin pie, you don’t have to buy a pre-baked crust which most of those recipes ask for. This one is easy and yet has a lovely buttery structure. Homemade treats should not be half premade anyway, it defeats the purpose.
How this cozy fall treat can be turned into a winter miracle.
This mudcake pie can follow you through any season. You can easily use the leftover dough making decorative shapes of leaves, stars, snowflakes etc., to add on top of the pie before it goes in the oven. For the winter season, a quick dust of powdered sugar is all it takes to make this cake into a complete winter miracle.

Make the crust first:
Mix Butter, Flour, Sugar, and Egg yolks to a crumbly dough. Add water.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface so it fits a 9 inch form.
Make it thinner if you want some left-over dough for decoration on top of the pie. (Leaves, stars, etc.)
Let it rest in the fridge for 20 minutes while you mix the mud-pie filling. Here you can turn on the oven to 350 F in which you then pre-bake the crust for 10 min.
Mudcake filling:
Turn up the oven to 400 F.
Melt the butter, add the rest of the ingredients and mix to a batter.
Pour the batter in the pre-baked crust, place the decorations on top.
Bake in the middle for about 20 minutes, keep an eye on it.
Let cool down before you enjoy it.
Comments
Deeply lovely recipe. It has such a cozy, yesteryear vibe to it. You decorated yours so beautifully with the sweet fall leaves. This gem of a dessert looks like it would be right at home on a Thanksgiving dinner table.
Speaking of which, I wish you both a splendidly lovely harvest season holiday.

Thank you dear Autumn, even if the precious leaves fall it’s fun we can commemorate them in a pie!
