COZY FALL TREAT IN A CRUST | Blackberry Pie Recipe

Blackberry Harvest Pie - Cozy Fall - It's a Charming Life

This cozy fall treat is one of the best things when fall is just around the corner. The blackberries go great together with plums. A perfect cozy fall combination if you ask us.

One amazing thing with fall is the many distinctive flavors! To make any day turn into a cozy fall day, a pie is usually what’s needed. The crust of this pie is based on our Mudcake Pie Recipe since we love it so much. We thought it would be a fantastic idea to try to combine it with this lovely pre-autumnal flavor combination of Blackberries and Plums.

Make the filling first and let it sit:

Slice the fruit in chunks, place them in a bowl.
Add sugar, salt. Let sit for 30 mins, strain the liquid.
Sprinkle the cornstarch and mix until it is dissolved.

While it sits make the crust:

Mix butter, Flour, Sugar, and Egg yolks to a crumbly dough.
Add water. Roll out the dough on a floured surface so it fits a 9-inch
pie form. Make it thinner if you want some left-over dough for decoration, or simply make more crust if you want more complicated decorations on top. Let it rest in the fridge for 20 min.

Pre-bake the crust at 350 F for 10 minutes.
Add the filling, and turn the oven up to 400 F.

Bake the pie in the middle for about 30 minutes, but keep an eye on it until the crust turns golden brown. Ovens are sometimes different. Some might require a longer time than others.

Let cool down before you enjoy it.

Gorgeous photos of this seriously scrumptious summer-into-fall baked treat.

While the local berry that I forge most often around these Western Canadian parts is raspberries (my all-time favourite fruit), when we lived in Ireland, brumbles heavy with luscious, zingy blackberries were a common sight and quite the fun experience for a Canadian gal like me who’d not encountered many blackberries in the wild before.

May you both have an autumn that is as sweet and wonderful as this delicious pie.

This looks delicious. I pinned it to my Autumn for grown-ups board. Sadly, all the blackberries around here come in plastic clam shells. But I planted a few canes in my garden this year and I’m hoping to get enough berries for a pie by next summer. A girl can dream …
