NYC JAZZ AGE LAWN PARTY | Time Travel To 1920s New York!

Greetings from New York City 1922!

Time travel to the roaring 20’s is indeed more possible than you know! 2 magical summer weekends a year you can step back in time into the bygone era of the Great Gatsby. In fact, The Wall Street Journal says it’s,

the biggest (not to mention the cleanest and most family-oriented) regular event in the ‘Retro Noveau’ movement…

Come along with me, Jonas, & my sister to the jazz age lawn party on Governor’s Island located a ferry ride away from Battery Park, NYC!

This day was the first time I saw my sister in over a year! She flew from CA to NY to visit me and we had a whole special week together. Fun fact, she’s actually a blonde but wore a cute black bobbed wig for the occasion! It was almost like looking in the mirror seeing her with my signature fringe! She totally nailed it with the Miss Fisher vibes!

I was quite pleased with my ensemble even if it’s a bit more 1930s inspired! I had the hardest time deciding what to wear and turned to Unique Vintage, knowing they are the ultimate dapper flapper headquarters. However, I still couldn’t see myself in any of their Great Gatsby style dresses, as pretty as they are! I wanted to buy something I could wear again + that would be great for a warm summer day in NYC.

So, this flowy wrap dress did just the trick! Some said I looked like a mix of a vintage Minnie Mouse & Snow White! A guy passing me said “Cinderella!” to me, must have meant I looked like some sort of princess?!

Jonas ended up buying a very dapper straw hat while we were there, he’d been looking for one that suited him for ages and he looked so handsome indeed!

We had the most lovely time looking at all the swanky booths and even cut the rug a little bit where my sister tried to teach us how to do the Charleston!

I’m not much of a city person but this view of the skyline from Governors Island was magnificent! Sporting my new favorite sunglasses from Retro Sunnies to take in the moment!

This day with my sister and husband was an absolute old-fashioned dream come true! She’s more than a sister but my best friend and being with her and Jonas on an vintage adventure like this makes my heart the most happy it can be! Hope you enjoyed coming along to the lawn party and let me know what your favorite era is if you could go back in time!

Bye For Now,
-Lindsay Dianne
P.S. If you could travel to a bygone era, which would it be?
