Dear Friends
I just want to take the opportunity to write a couple of lines, telling you about our summer visit to Sweden. This time it will come out as a postcard to you since postcards are something both me and Lindsay enjoy, and if you belong to the group who not usually get a postcard in your mailbox, this is for you.
To begin with, the weather was very nice the whole time, not a single raincloud as far as our eyes could see. The water felt refreshing as we after a long flight finally could sit down in the sunset, with our feet in the ocean. Hearing the seagulls welcoming song.
It was very nice to spend time with family and meet up with a few of our friends. I wish we have had more time for all of you, but time always goes fast on a vacation (why?).
We already knew we would go visit many cafes, and we sure did. Summer cafes are just one of our favourite things to do. It is more than the sweet treats, it is about companionship over a cup of coffee or tea. Another fun thing in Sweden are all the flea markets or “Loppis” as it is called there. It is many hidden treasures to be found, and if you want you can see what we brought back with us right <here>.
This year we took a nice day trip to “Skansen”. The very first open-air museum in the capital city of Sweden, Stockholm. It is filled with bygone history and a wide selection of the Scandinavian wildlife. At “Skansen” there is something for everyone, no matter age.
Another fun park we decided to visit celebrates the author of “Pippi Longstocking” and her many other immortal book characters. They are all gathered in one big place called “The World of Astrid Lindgren”. It can with no doubt be compared to a Swedish version of Disneyland. It is hard to not feel happy in a place filled with classic book characters you grow up with. (I always knew they were real.)
We visited a beautiful island called “Visingsö”. A green and fluffy island located in the middle of a big lake with water as clear as crystals. The nature is really something that my whole soul embrace when we visit. This time we were so lucky to experience “a blood-moon eclipse”. A very rare scenery that many people stepped out in the night to enjoy. I don’t think it will happen again for a very long time.
Sweden is filled with wonderful places and things to see, but what stays with me the longest is the precious memories shared with family and friends. Those are the moments that are worth to invest in by simply put away your phone and see where the conversation will take you. Sometimes you’ll be surprised. Thank you, everyone, who made it so special for us this time.
