VINTAGE FOLK OUTFITS | Swedish Summer Lookbook

Dear Bygone Gals,

Folk style is something that truly sets my heart a light! I was so happy to put together several vintage style outfits inspired by traditional nordic style. What better backdrop could that be then in Sweden? Come along with me to some charming locations on our trip this summer:

LOOK ONE | Swiss Miss

I felt like a real life Snow White in this historic Sweden mining village complete with dwarfs cottages! This outfit is almost like wearing the Swedish flag colors of blue and yellow. The scarf was something I thrifted during our trip!

Top it off with milk maid braids to complete the “Von Trapp” effect, which is actually what my mother in law said I looked like! But, contrary to popular belief, Switzerland and Sweden are not the same country!

OUTFIT ||  Scarf: Thrifted (similar) | Blouse: Doll Me Up | Dress: Lindy Bop | Belt: H&M

LOOK TWO | Skansen

A little bit of balkan and viking inspired this look at Sweden’s oldest open air museum. The medieval buildings made me truly feel like I had stepped back in time and I felt dressed for such an occasion.

OUTFIT ||  Top: Thrifted | Skirt: Thrifted | Earrings: Icelandic Design | Belt: Amazon | Shoes: White Mountain (Similar)

LOOK THREE | Storybook Doll

Felt like I fell down a rabbit hole to a storybook land in the the magical world of famous Swedish author, Astrid Lindgren. The houses were miniature and I felt this dress made me look almost like a character from her books. I certainly was stared at enough to make me think so! I guess bounding isn’t a thing at Swedish theme parks like at Disneyland?

OUTFIT ||  Flower Crown: DIY  | Dress : Doll Me Up | Flats & Socks: Target

LOOK FOUR | 70’s Peasant

Summertime calls for peasant dresses and I branched out into a different era for this look. I’m so happy with this long folky 70s dress and turned out to be what I wore the most in the heatwave Sweden was experiencing. I love how the brown and orange colors seemed to mimic the medieval church and castle ruins we visited.

OUTFIT ||  Hat: Thrifted (similar) | Dress: Freak Show Vintage (she has loads of other 70s style products)

LOOK FIVE | Castle Casual

Sunday stroll at our favorite castle in Sweden that also has a cafe. I always love looking at all the flowers and turned out my skirt even matched.

OUTFIT ||  Hair Clip: Gift | Top: Thrifted | Skirt: Doll Me Up

LOOK SIX | Blood Moon

A bonus and different outfit that I threw together for the lunar eclipse we got to witness. I mixed a few old pieces plus a flower crown I made many moons ago when we lived in Sweden. I remembered I had it stowed away at my in-laws and felt magical to take it out for such an occasion.

Well my dearies, I would love to know if you also love the folk side of vintage and which outfit was your favorite? It’s fun to dress retro but sometimes I just feel like a peasant kind of girl at heart and I loved to share that side of me with you.

Bye For Now,
Lindsay Dianne

P.S. Jonas & my Swedish trip post will be coming soon so you can see all the charming places we visited!
