WITCHING HOUR | Vintage Halloween Outfit Inspiration!

“The time has come for witches dance, and the spooks from far and near, will gather and make merry, for Hallowe’en is here”

Happy Halloween greetings, dearies!!! The best day of the year is here, though we have been soaking up every moment of spooky October as possible. Jonas & I love looking at vintage Halloween postcards to get inspiration for photos shoots, projects, and even borrow the charming little poems for our Instagram captions sometimes. Is there anything cuter than a vintage witch? I’m taking a page from their spell book and rounding up my favorite witchy outfits and photos of Halloween’s past.

In fact, my kindred spirit, Veronique, & I planned a photo shoot in the graveyard behind the cottage inspired by our favorite Victorian witch outfits.  It was so much fun frolicking in the cemetry with our shawls and matching brooms. I hope we can do more projects together like this soon and do check out her blog, Mysterium Botanica, for more Victorian inspired fashion. Watch the BTS of this photo shoot in our Sleepy Hollow vlog!

The best part about our outfits is that they’re all mostly thrifted or vintage which you can see more of in this closet Halloween costume video:

I love dressing up a witch so much, so as a bonus here are some photos from 2015 when I got to play out all my vintage Halloween dreams with my moon sister at papermoonshoppe.com! Jonas & collaborated with them to make a “Moonlight Magic Collection” and the first was this happy harvest pumpkin moon! I showed Jonas vintage inspired moons I loved and he came up with the design, Paper Moon Shoppe created the moon, Jonas hand painted it, and I did the set design plus modeled!

The Wicked Witch Paper Moon was the 2nd in the collection inspired by vintage witches! Can you see witch classic witches it was inspired by? I had a blast with Victoria planning the set together and trying to figure out the fog machine while trying to model!

Who are your favorite witches of all time? Mine have to the the Sanderson Sisters! Speaking of which, also in 2015 I got to help with set design + be a trick or treater in Traci Hines’ “Hocus Pocus” music video, can you spot me & Jonas as some of the trick or treaters?!?

Speaking of Salem, that’s where I was for birthdays/Halloween in 2016!!! It was a dream come true to explore the Hocus Pocus filming locations and masquerade about on All Hallow’s Eve!

Happy Halloween my dearies, hope you have a magical witching hour! Bye for now,

-Lindsay Dianne

P.S. Do tell me what you’re dressing up as for Halloween!

Ahhh I love seeing all of your Halloween looks — past and present! I just watched the Papermoon video and oh my goodness you are such a perfect vintage witch! I wish I had done more Halloween content, but then there’s always more I want to do that I can’t get done, haha!
