HOW TO GET 3 OUTFITS FROM 3 PIECES| Feat. Vintage Inspired “Joanie Clothing”

Hello dearies! From the photo above would you guess that I’m wearing 3 separates? In the last post I shared how I’ve learned to stay warm + stylish in the wintertime for my vintage inspired wardrobe. But it can be a whole other matter to know how to go about creating outfits, especially if you have the tiniest cottage closet like me!

Joanie Clothing was lovely enough to send me 3 pieces from their winter arrivals. While, I admired many of their cutesy slogan sweaters and novelty print dress, I decided to go for 3 classic pieces I knew I’d get a lot of wear out of during the cold months.

Upon trying them on, I was struck by not only how good quality the pieces are but also by how versatile they can be when layering them. In fact, I came up with 3 variations of outfits just from the way I paired them. For a bygone gal like myself with a tiny wardrobe, it’s so key to be able to mix and match pieces to get as many looks as possible. So, I’m sharing how to get the maximum outfits with these 3 Joanie Clothing pieces as an example. I was gifted the rust cable knit cardigan, navy peter pan collar jumper, and polka dot tartan tea dress (but all opinions are my own!)

LOOK ONE: (Middle photo) Layer the jumper over the dress to give a sort of school girl look and you’d never know the dress isn’t just a skirt. Add a vintage sweater guard clip for added flair.

LOOK TWO: Wear the tartan dress with the cardigan buttoned over and the frilly collar pulled out paired with a knit beret. Add a turtleneck shirt under for another layer of warmth.

LOOK THREE: Wear the jumper over the dress with the cardigan buttoned over the top or keep it open for another version.

The variations are slight within these 3 pieces but enough to give different looks and warmth depending on the temperature. This is so helpful if you’re out exploring a historic farm on Long Island but then come into a charming tea room and suddenly find yourself sweating whilst drinking a warm cuppa. Then it’s essential to be able to peel the layers off and still have a stylish outfit. In fact, I even made a quick bathroom outfit change to take off your jumper so I wouldn’t be quite as warm (and so the tartan dress would match the darling English decor.)

If you stay within a similar color palette there’s so many possibilities of outfits you can create with different layers and accessories. It certainly brings new opportunities to your wardrobe even in the wintertime. I hope you’ve found this helpful and I’d love to know if you’d like to see more styling tips like this? Bye For Now,

Love all those outfits! Especially the dress, the beret and orange cardigan, but the other jumper is lovely too. And those boots!!! So perfect. The colours remind me of autumn a bit, but it’s always good to go a little bit autumnal, I guess 😉
