SUPER EASY COTTAGE COOKIES | So Lovely That You Want More

Cottagecore Cookies - Jam Filled Shortbread Cuts - Wienerstänger - Syltkakor

These cottage cookies are super easy to make and taste so lovely that you want more. They are called Jam Filled Shortbread Cuts and are based on a Swedish classic recipe.

In Sweden, you would hear the name “Mördegskakor med Sylt” (Shortbread Cookies with Jam), “Sylt kakor” (Jam Cookies), or “Wienerlängder” (Wiener Lengths) you’ll know it is this beloved classic. However since “Beloved child has many names” as they say, it does not matter what you call this classic fika cookie. The most important thing is that it is shortbread and a string of your absolute favorite jam. The fact that these are super easy to make is just a bonus.

This Cookie is featured in our “Peaceful Cottage Weekend” video.

Just mix the shortbread ingredients and let it rest:

Mix all the ingredients together until a solid dough takes form.
Let it rest in the fridge for about 30 minutes.
Preheat the oven to 350 F.

Add your most desired jam:

Divide the dough into two pieces which you shape into rolls.
Flatten these rolls to a half-inch size thickness.
With your thumb, create a “ditch” over each roll.
This is where your favorite jam goes before you put it in the oven.

Bake them into cottagecore perfection:

Bake for about 10-15 minutes (Keep an eye on it since ovens can act differently.) Cut into slightly tilted 1-inch cuts or the desired size you prefer.

P.s. Feel free to sprinkle some traditional icing over the jam as it cools down.

We hope you’ll enjoy them!

Hello, I made these delicious shortbread cut’s today and I love them. I did put the dough in the fridge for 30 mins but realized I needed to leave it in for another hour, it was too soft to handle. I did cut the dough in half when I started to roll it. it started to brake so I half it again and came out with 4 rolls. That is okay because who doesn’t like shortbread cookies? I love them. I did sprinkle confection sugar once they cooled off. Thank you for your recipe.
